The Slythreef split from its ancestor and has moved into the Datura-Gemstar reef. Due to the smaller amounts of prey items in the new ecosystem, the Slythreef eats just about anything that it can catch. The slythreef doesn't swim far from the sea floor. It is gray with orange stripes to blend in with the large masses of feathervase and hydravase vases and reef neakweeds. They primarily feed on benthic and slow-swimming creatures, as well as the occasional feathervase, which can be a challenge to kill and eat due to its larger size and their ability to retract into their vases. They are also known to eat plant matter, including reef neakweeds and drifting neakvine bulbs. They also scavenge for dead animals. They now lay their eggs among the tentacles of the hydravase, as anything that would try to eat the eggs would likely take a bite out of the hydravase, causing said egg-eating creature to die from the hydravase's neurotoxins. They no longer crawl onto land, as there isn't much to eat on the islands the reef grows around.
