The Crinosoar split from its ancestor and spends more time in the air. Still living exclusively along the east coast of Middle Daturia, They have adapted further to living out of water, as they now breathe through their mouth, their lungs have became more efficient, and their skin is now covered in tiny, but densely packed scales. They have been known to use thermals to gain altitude and conserve energy. Their jaws are now filled with tiny, sharp teeth that allow them to hold onto their prey and cut through the prey's flesh. They now hunt in the air, dive-bombing their prey from above. Some specimens have even been known to spook crinofliers out of the water and catch them in mid-air, while others have been seen flying over the land snatching up beachworms. While they can eat small prey while flying, they must return to the water to feed on larger prey (larger than 10 cm) as carrying around the large prey would weigh them down. They have developed three, small tentacles covered in microscopic bristles that are used to detect vibrations in the air and water. Because of their increased size, they have evolved sacs that contain lighter-than air gases that help them stay aloft. However, this prevents them from diving very far into the water, so they are almost always found in the upper layers of the water column. Because they cannot dive deeper into the ocean, they must come close to shore to lay their eggs. This is because the plants they lay their eggs beneath are closer to the surface.
