The slythdigger split from its ancestor, the slythterra. Continuing to live on the East Peninsular Scrubland, the slythdigger has gained the ability to dig with its oversized lower jaws. Most of the time these jaws are used to dig up plants so they can eat their roots. However, during the mating season, males will spend much of their time digging burrows for females to lay their eggs in. Females will chose the males with the biggest burrow. The female will then guard her burrow while the male gathers food for her. After the eggs hatch the male and female abandon the burrow. The vestigial limbs are now covered in hairs that allow the slythdigger to feel their way around a burrow.
