The palmumbra has moved further inland, and has made its home in Skwidbox Savanna. The sporophyte has changed significantly in order to adapt to the drier climate. While they are found all throughout the savanna, they are most commonly found near Skwidbox River, as there is more moisture there. The first change is that it has switched from C3 photosynthesis to C4 photosynthesis- decreasing the amount of water lost to respiration. Its fat lining has grown thicker- allowing it to store more nutrients and water. Its water storage tubers have grown larger, providing the palmumbra with an extensive supply of extra water. Its four fronds have fused into a single, square-shaped leaf that shades out any competitors trying to grow beneath it. The gametophyte is very similar to its close cousin, the southern palmarrow. However, it is taller, has four large eyes, has its nostrils on the bottom of its head, and has a hardened mouthpiece. Apart from this, their anatomy is virtually identical. The gametophyte's behavior is also very similar to that of the southern palmarrow. However, soon after they hatch, they will travel as far from its parent as possible. This ensures that the next sporophyte won't grow too close to its parent.
