The Tripohunter split from its ancestor and has become a major predator in Northern Datura. It now spends much of its time on land, losing its mucus coat and moist skin and replacing them with tiny, dense scales. It has lost its fins, as it rarely returns to the water. Its legs have become able to fully support its weight, allowing them to walk properly. However, its long tail encumbers it, making locomotion on land awkward. Fortunately, few predators can challenge it due to its sheer size, with the exception of the crawlung. Its hunting strategy is to attempt to sneak up on its prey and cripple it with its enormous mandibles. After this, it stabs its prey with its sharp, hardened proboscis and injects digestive fluids into its prey. After its prey's insides have been liquefied, it will slurp up the resulting mush through its proboscis. They are more common in the woodland, as there are no predators there. However, these tripohunters will need to return to the beach to mate and lay their eggs into the ocean, which will hatch into lurker-like larvae that will parasitize aquatic flora. These larvae will eventually grow their legs, mandibles, and lungs. When these parameters are met, they will crawl onto the land and begin their adult lives. Because beach-dwelling tripohunters are often eaten by crawlungs, they breed rapidly. Those in the woodland will only occasionally return to the beach to breed, as they don't have to worry about predators.
