We see convergent evolution all around us on earth. Birds, Bats, Pterosaurs, and Insects all evolved flight independently from one another. The Buoyshroom evolved a way to float around and become buoyant. Coincidentally (most likely), so had a group of Rejerfiltrus. Rejerfloatrus are about the same as there ancestors, but with one key difference. Their bulb has gotten out of the ground and into the ocean, largely doing the same thing as the Buoyshroom. Going up, take air in, and going down, take the air out. However, Rejerfloatrus has a few key advantages that let it dominate more. Obviously, they are smaller and they have two ways of reproduction, but there's also the fact that it can move around. It has muscles, unlike the Buoyshroom, as plants naturally don't have muscles. So if there is something that tries to eat it, it isn't totally helpless- It can dodge the attacks.
