Creator: ZoologicalBotanist
Habitat: North Datura Temperate Coast
Size: 2 Meters Tall
Diet: Photosynthesis, Detritivore, Filter-Feeder
Reproduction: Asexual Spores
To further compete with the other plants in the area, the featherkelp grew taller. It is able to reach near the waters surface and collect more plankton than it was previously able to. Because of their height, other plants are often shaded out, further reducing competition. The featherkelp has three oil filled balls on the top of the stalk. These balls keep the featherkelp upright and floating on the surface. Spores are released fro the main fronds and are coated in a special armor that the featherkelp's plankton piercing spikes cannot pierce. Underneath each main frond is a secondary frond that has decreased filter feeding capabilities but more photosynthesizing capabilities. It is not unusual for featherkelps to form large groves. These groves can function as a nursery for young nautoreap and psittacrush, among other species.
