Moving from the beaches onto land the scrubweed adapted to the drier climate it now found itself in. Its leaves are now even more adapted for storing water, and its bulb is now primarily for storing water instead of for anchorage. The roots spread very deep in order to search for water underground. The scarcity of water has forced it to shrink to decrease the amount of water it needs. The spores are released from the spore capsule when the capsule explodes from the air pressure increasing as it shrinks.
