As life moved into the rivers, so did animals that would consume that life. The rivacrush is an example of a species that would adapt to live in this river habitat. Although it has shrunk in size, what it lost in bulk, it made up for in muscle power. The increased muscle power allows this species to swim upstream even in the swiftest currents. They are omnivorous, feeding upon whatever plant and animal matter they find. The rivacrush does not lay eggs, instead giving birth to live young, making it the first creature in the psittacrush family to not lay eggs. Some populations that live in the swamp also use their swimming strength to jump in the air. Sometimes, they are even able to leap to another nearby pool! This allows them to pursue prey and escape from predators such as acanthovisus.
