In the wake of the explosion of the supervolcano, the Proot came extremely close to extinction. However, one branch of the tree managed to survive and adapt to this new climate. The Prair grows much shorter to the ground than the Proot, so as to protect itself against the particles of ice and ash that float throughout the air. It has gained several branches and leaves to improve upon its photosynthesis, for it is far darker with the ash and soot in the air. Finally, its hairs serve a new purpose, as insulation against the freezing temperatures.
