Ancestor: Podadite
Habitat: Shallow seas around North Gemstar, particularly Rocky areas or reefs
Some of the previously practically defenseless Podadite have begun to develop armor plates of chitin. Their two larger food gathering tentacles have become entirely encased in large chitin plates that can close like a pair of jaws. Their feathery filterfeeding tentacles have developed a much smaller chitin plate on the back of them as well as increased in size to gather more food particles. Their small food manipulating tentacles have become more deft to comb the bits of food from their stiffer filtering tentacles as well. They generally attached to hard objects like rocks or extant reefs and help build them, yet they are poor at starting reefs themselves. Due to their long plates they are slightly larger than their ancestor, being about seven centimeters.
