The Nautalltho split from its ancestor. It now primarily lives in shallow waters such as coasts and reefs as well as in the twilight zone. They have also been rarely seen in the sunlight zone of the open ocean. They primarily feed on slower-moving animals. Nautallthos living in shallower waters are active predators, chasing down slower prey. These Nautallthos seem to hunt benthic prey more often than pelagic prey. Those living in the open ocean are ambush predators, waiting for the faster Groupodispians to swim within range before attacking. Their coiled shell allows them to survive at greater depths, enabling them to live in the twilight zone. Here, they search for the lights of Glowvisus shoals, which they will stalk. Twilight zone-dwelling Nautallthos tend to follow the Glowvisus shoals, travelling to the sunlight zone at night and returning to the twilight zone during the day.
