Filter feeding is rather common among False Clams and their descendants, but some have moved to more novel ways of catching food, even if it makes them look... awkward. Their bodies have elongated, and their shell covers their rear end, while a "neck" extends out of the rest of the animal, similar to a geoduck on Earth. The neck is a rather large siphon, which it uses to swallow bits of food, bit by bit. Most of the time, they spend their time burrowed in the sediment, with their necks exposed. When threatened, they rapidly dig into the sediment, until the threat clears. Reproduction is via broadcast spawning, females release large amounts of eggs into the ocean, as males release large amounts of sperm as well, in hopes of getting an egg fertilized externally.
