Taxonomy
Ancestors and Descendants
Ancestor: Slythphibian

Habitat: East Peninsular Rainforest and Scrubland

The Slythphibian has begun to move inland to exploit new niches presented by the extinction event. However as various larger predators still remained in the forest and Scrubland, they reduced in size to about 20 centimeters. They use their finlike forelimbs to dig through loose topsoil and burrow through fallen pralm fronds, as well as to help them move quickly. They are ambush predators with strong beaks to help them prey on the smallest and newborn arthrobeaks, as well as Spicapill and the occasional Ricapill that fall from their tree or move across the ground to get to a new food source. They retain a tadpole stage, though they use mudpuddles and damp leaflitter rather than the ocean as their spawning ground. They secrete a thin waxy substance that helps with water retention so as not to dry out. While they are incapable of digging full size borrows, they can burrow enough to cover themselves in soil or pralm leaves to remain hidden and keep from being fully exposed to sunlight.
