Creator: Bufforpington
Habitat: North Daturian Reef
Size: 1.2 meters Long
Diet: Carnivore (False Crinoid, Caladite, Allthocone, Nautalltho)
Reproduction: Eggs laid into the ocean
The chromocrusher split from its ancestor. While it still eats false crinoids, it now primarily feeds on cephalopod-like podohoovus descendants. It has developed the ability to change its color, allowing it to blend in with its more colorful surroundings. It normally stays in one spot, waiting for a passing cephalopod-mimic to come within range. It then uses its jaw to crack the shell of the cephalopod-mimic. With the chambered shell broken, the creature is rendered immobile and largely helpless. The chromocrusher then proceeds to finish off and eat the disabled cephalopod-mimic. If cephalopod-mimics are not available, they will resort to eating smaller shelled creatures, like false crinoids and caldites. During their mating season, males will display brilliant color patterns and gradients in an attempt to impress females. A male with the brightest colors will attract the most females.
