Habitat: Southern seas around the Daturan Peninsula and Southwestern Gemstar, both shallow and open sea
Aurorofin, like an incredible number of basal creatures, has taken advantage of the decrease of large oceanic carnivores to resecure a predatory niche that it had long since lost. They have also become much larger than their ancestor, about fifteen centimeters in length. They have also adapted a sort of mesh of tiny chitinous plates within their skin that holds their shape like a thin exoskeleton but are notably more flexible. Their six fins can flap independently to make them unprecedentedly agile but slow, or flap together to move at high speed while sacrificing their usual agility. Their clawed tentacles have shortened the actual tentacle to a great degree, while the claws have become huge and function like a set of six mandibles. While they are preferably carnivorous, they are capable of gnawing and slicing off pieces of plants to feed on. Those dwelling near the shore are known to lunge onto land after prey like squishwalker and newborn Armorlug, though they are incapable of breathing out of water entirely, and have also been known to suffocate if unable to writhe their way back into water. They have also retained their bioluminescent fins, though only use them to identify mates during breeding season.
