The Anchovisus split from its ancestor. They now live in enormous shoals that provide some protection from the enormous predators lurking in the ocean. They have developed pectoral fins to help stabilize them while they are swimming. They have also developed gills that improve respiration. These shoals travel along the coasts of the various subcontinents, but are known for migrating across the open ocean to reach spawning grounds. The anchovisus spawns in polar waters, where there are few predators. They particularly do this during the summer, when the water isn't too cold. Because they are eaten so often, they lay countless eggs that cover vast swaths of the polar coasts.
