After the prevailnoffian mass extinction- the reef that once stood on North Datura Temperate Coast was all but destroyed. However, it wasn't long before the false clams began to rebuild what their now extinct descendants have created. This resulted in the razorclam. The razorclam has moved into deeper waters- where the false crinoids and their kin used to dwell. They now grow on the shredded remains of the old reef- building a new one on top of it- to a certain extent that is. They now are anchored to the ground with root-like structures extending into the bedrock, preventing them from being easily pulled off by waves or predators. In order to further defend itself against predators, its shell has become spiky. While psittacrushes can still break the shell unharmed- they ultimately will swallow the shards of said spikes- which will wreak havoc on their insides. Most psittacrushes that eat razorclams die of internal damage- and the few that survive don't eat any more razorclams after the ordeal. Nautoreaps tend to congregate around razorclam clusters, profiting off of the psittabeak corpses that lie around them. Razorclams also grow in tight clusters, both making it harder for psittacrushes to get a hold of an individual razorclam- but also providing the colony with safety in numbers. Over time, the rocks that cover North Datura Temperate Coast will become spiky deathtraps to soft-bodied animals.
